Ushers
Church ushering is a vital behind-the-scenes ministry that is important to both the clergy and the congregation. This is a valuable opportunity to offer a positive first impression of Colonial Church to both our members and visitors. This ministry assures that everyone will be met with a smile and welcoming spirit - the foundation for a Christ-centered worship experience.

There are currently four usher teams (with 8 to 10 ushers on each team), and these are led by an usher team leader. Each team is assigned to one Sunday per month (Team 1 would be the first Sunday, Team 2 the second Sunday, etc.). The ushers are responsible to hand out bulletins and take offerings, as well as helping seat congregation members and other duties, as necessary.

There are also other ushering needs during the year for special worship services (Service of Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and when there are 5 Sundays in a month, which happens 3-4 times during a calendar year). These special worship services would be divided up between the four usher teams by our Usher Coordinator, Barb Halvorson, by the beginning of September of each year. The only exception has been for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. A sign-up sheet is sent out for individuals with the usher packet that is sent in late August/early September to sign up for these particular services.
Welcome Beloved Team (includes Greeters)
Welcome, Beloved is one of our Core Values. In fact, it's listed first because that's what we first do - welcome people in. Greeters, bagel ministry, name tags and more - we want everyone who comes through our doors to know they are Beloved and they are Welcome!
