AN INVITATION: STATIONS OF REFORMING PRAYER WALK

Today marks the beginning of the Visioning Team meetings. We will meet from 12:00-4:30 today and tomorrow. Will you join us in prayer? You may do so either by creating space in the rhythms of your life over these next two days and/or by joining us at the church for a Stations of ReForming Prayer Walk.

Maps for the prayer walk will be provided upon your entrance to the church building.  Walk on your own or with a friend!  We would covet your prayers for ministries, the people who walk the halls, and for all of us to meet Jesus in transforming ways into the future.

BEGIN BY FINDING A QUIET PLACE. 

Begin by finding a quiet place where you can settle in a way that fosters deep peace and relaxation. Allow time for your mind to empty, your breathing to calm, and your spirit to open.


Romans 12:1-2

O Lord, let us not conform to the ways of this world, but transform us by your Holy Spirit; renew us mind and heart that we may discern and do your will for us, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Patient Trust

Above all, trust in the slow work of God.
We are quite naturally impatient in everything
to reach the end without delay.
We should like to skip the intermediate stages.
We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new.
And yet it is the law of all progress
that it is made by passing though
some stages of instability—
and that it may take a very long time.

And so I think it is with you;
your ideas mature gradually—let them grow,
let them shape themselves, without undue haste. Don’t try to force them on,
as though you could be today what time
(that is to say, grace and circumstances
acting on your own good will)
will make of you tomorrow.

Only God could say what this new spirit gradually forming within you will be. Give our Lord the benefit of believing that his hand is leading you,

and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.

PRAYER. God, we come to you today in prayer. As a community we seek you. May your Spirit breathe upon us. Be with those in our community who have been tasked with leading this visioning process. Grant them wisdom, discernment, and grace by your Spirit. May the love of Christ fill and transform all of our hearts and minds. We give you thanks for this church, for this community, and for all that has been and will be. With thanksgiving and trust in you and all of your promises. AMEN.
