Grow and Serve

A place to GROW in Christ
and SERVE the world.

– Colonial Church Mission Statement

Join us for a new set of small groups built around our mission statement.

  • Find a group of people to join your group
  • Commit to meeting once a month for four months
  • Watch what happens as God to connects you with others to grow and serve together.

Growth is of utmost importance in our lives as followers of Jesus. Growth in Christ happens when we study scripture, meet in community, wrestle with questions, and pray together. When you form a Grow+Serve group, three of your group times together will be GROW meetings when you will study, discuss, and engage your topic of choice using scripture, discussion and prayer.

Serving takes us outside of our own personal needs and puts us in a position to care for others as Christ cares for us. One of your four Grow+Serve meetings will be a SERVE meeting. Serving together builds stronger friendships and reminds us that we can do more when we live and serve as a community.
We will provide you with several interesting options for service projects; your group will pick a date and way of serving that works for you all.

How to get Started

A. Make the commitment

Agree to free up a two-hour block of time each month to meet with your group.

B. Find a group

We encourage you to find your own group. If you choose the people you want to be with, you are more likely to stay committed to meet together BUT we hope you will also invite others you don’t know to join you too!
Don’t worry… if you don’t know who to invite or which group to join, please email and we will help connect you to a group.
The ideal size for a small group is between 6-10 people.

New groups are forming NOW. We hope you will take the challenge to join a small group of people at Colonial to intentionally take time to Grow+Serve.

D. Choose your Topic:

NEW! (Some of) What Jesus Taught about Heaven.
Most of us like to think about Heaven. Jesus talked a lot about Heaven in the gospels, though not every mention of Heaven in the gospels meant the same thing. This study looks at three gospel passages where Jesus teaches us about Heaven and relates those teachings to today.

NEW! How to WIN at Life.
The book of James is pretty hard hitting and direct. James was concerned with the followers of Jesus not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. This study focuses on how to put into practice the teachings of Jesus.

NEW! Full of Characters.
The book of Genesis is full of characters. This study will explore who some of these characters were and how their remarkable stories can teach us today.

Creative Aging.
A book study on what it means to embrace job and family transitions from empty nesters into retirement with Christ at the center.

What does THAT mean?
A study of three surprisingly interesting scripture passages that don’t mean what you think they mean.

Questions of Jesus.
A study of four gospel passages that center around a question Jesus asked his followers.

At Go Day you will meet with your group for the first time, choose your meeting dates and curriculum and get started.
