|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:30am on Sunday, repeating until May 21, 2017

The Gospels record that Jesus was called “king of the Jews,” but what does it mean for Jesus to be Jewish? To what extent is the New Testament a “Jewish” text? This four-week teaching series highlights the Jewish background of early Christianity by bringing the New Testament into conversation with the Old Testament and Jewish traditions of Jesus’ day. We will explore questions of how Jesus and Paul related to the Law (the first five books of Moses), the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and what the Jewish character of the New Testament can mean for us today. Looking at the New Testament from a Jewish perspective will broaden our understanding of Jesus’ message and how we fit into the ongoing story of God’s people. Taught by Nicholas Schaser.
