Elizabeth—(Mark Patrick)

Elizabeth—(Mark Patrick)

December 1st, 2021 — Elizabeth

When his time of service was completed, he returned home. After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.” (Luke 1:23-25)

Reflection (Mark Patrick):

Elizabeth lives with the unfair cultural stigma of being childless. Now an “old woman” she conceives and bears a very special son, John, who is to prepare the way for Jesus’ ministry. What must she have experienced during this amazing time in her life?

Elizabeth’s Prayer

Who am I, Lord?

That you should

Choose me

I am old

            I gave up hope:

             I let go long ago

                          Of the dream

                                       Of a child…

Now, Lord,

Rekindle our

           Passion for life.

Make me strong

            And capable for

This late blessing

           You give.

I receive your future, Lord

            I receive your call

I welcome this life

For me

            And your people

Tell me

I’m not dreaming, Lord!

As I receive this dream—

            Wide awake to wonder—-

                     And to life!

What do you want/hope for?

Write a prayer from your heart as you continue to trust God to answer…

Our Lord, use us as part of your plan for the world.
We ask for your Courage, comfort, healing and joy as we wait. Amen.
