Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Seeking the Light. From Emma Bailey (one of our high school students)

In our society, we shift each day. As individuals, our lives are often presented with the unprecedented. As Christians, we see God in each of these changes.

It is all too easy to conceive of negativity as a dark mass, never to be associated with God. We must remember that God works for a reason, oftentimes working the negativity in our lives to create strength.

Recall for a minute James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

It is important to set aside time to discover the good within the bad, otherwise we leave too much negativity in our lives. Positivity always beats out negativity.

Questions for Consideration.

  • Think about your actions after facing a challenging time. How did you employ your endurance to make adjustments?
  • What is a time when you’ve face pain and suffering? How has this become a source of your strength?

Closing Prayer.  God, I pray that I have the will to seek your light in the midst of the darkness. Where I am in need of a new ability to see, may your Spirit adjust my perspective. Amen.
