You are invited into a time of spiritual reflection and prayer in this Advent season—a season of waiting and listening, a season of expectation and hope.
O Lord, let me not conform to the ways of this world, but transform me by your Holy Spirit; renew me mind and heart that I may discern and do Your Will—what is good and acceptable and perfect. AMEN.
December 11. Waiting… filled with promise.
TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE as you begin
I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14
REFLECTION from Carol Cushman
Life requires a lot of waiting…. for healing of pain and loss, a call from the doctor to reveal the results of a test, family to arrive at our doorstep during the holidays, the birth of a special baby called Jesus, what will the re-forming of Colonial look like. As we wait we are sometimes overcome with fear – fear of the unknown, fear of change.
This waiting need not be an empty waiting. It can be filled with a promise in our hearts that if we turn to face God, the one who knows us and loves us, we will not be overcome with fears, we will rise above our struggles and pain, and we will shout blessings of gratitude for what God reveals to us.
Call on God, be strong and trust in your heart’s courage. Trust in the power of His unconditional and everlasting love for you.
PRAYER: Help us to remember, Lord, that as we wait with hope, trust and confidence we will see your goodness and graciousness in all things.
TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE as you close.
