I preach and teach and pray and lead and love to come alongside folks as we seek to follow Jesus together. I like to ride my bike, paddle my kayak, swing my squash racket, read books, watch sports, talk theology, cook food (and eat it). Colonial is a fabulous church with wonderful and faithful people who honor our life together as a congregational body of Christ. I’m thankful to be here.

He spent 25 years in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his PhD in Developmental Psychology from Boston College. For 23 years he served as a minister at Park Street Church. He has served as adjunct faculty at a number of seminaries and colleges, and is author of Nature’s Witness: How Evolution Can Inspire Faith (Abingdon, 2008), How To Be Perfect: One Church’s Audacious Experiment in Living the Old Testament Book of Leviticus (FaithWords: 2010), and Wisdom of the Saints and Near Saints: Christian Inspiration from A-Z (Patheos Press, 2014). He lives in Minneapolis by grace with his lovely wife and daughter.
Associate Minister (Pastoral Care & Seniors)
I coordinate Pastoral Care and Senior activities for the congregation. At Colonial we try to take serious the care for our members in all seasons of life. Away from the job I love a round of golf, talking Minnesota sports, or spending time with friends with a large bucket of popcorn at the theatre. Let me know if I can help you get acquainted with our congregation.
EducationI grew up in Minneapolis, received an AA in Law Enforcement from Normandale Community College and a B.A. degree from Bethel University. God called me back to Bethel Seminary where I received a Master of Divinity degree. I served in a variety of ministries here at Colonial Church from Youth Ministry to Missions and now Pastoral Care.
Minister For Children & Families
At Colonial, I am privileged to spend time with children, infants through 5th grade. I am blessed to work together with families as we share faith with our children. I love Jesus and I love kids! I am a Minnesotan living in St.Paul with my husband (Paul), and two children (Rhoda and Ricky).
Marie received a B.S. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Bethel University in 2003. She graduated from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary with an M. Div. in 2006. She has served in full time ministry in the areas of youth and children at three churches, Christ Community Church in Wheaton, IL; St. Mary Magdalene Lutheran in Savage, MN; and now at Colonial.
Minister of Student and Missional Engagement
I serve both our youth and mission ministries here at Colonial. I believe that Jesus followers are meant to be a blessing to all people, in all nations, and all generations. God still has work for us to do and I’m thrilled to go on the journey with the Colonial community. I married my best friend, Becca, and we love to camp, kayak, go to concerts, and spend time with our dogs. I’m also a big fan of nerdy books, Olympic weightlifting, and collecting vinyls.
Carter received his Bachelor’s in Business and Marketing from the University of Central Arkansas and his M.Div. in Intercultural Ministry from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He previously served as the youth pastor and Hosanna! Lutheran Church and interned at Mars Hill in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition, Carter is a partner to Fuller Seminary’s Youth Innovations program which is developing new ways forward in youth ministry practices.
Ministry Operations Manager
I work alongside the wonderful staff of Colonial to run the day-to-day operations of our ministry areas. I graduated from Bethel University with a degree in math education. I enjoy cooking in my new kitchen, riding my bike, gardening and finding the best fishing location on any Minnesota lake. I feel extremely blessed to be in my position here at Colonial and find it very rewarding to see how the people of this church are navigating what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus in such beautiful (and creative) ways.
I am responsible for processing contributions, accounts payable and payroll. There is something new that happens everyday, and I love the challenge. When not at work I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Shopping is my favorite, but we do a variety of other fun stuff. Colonial is very welcoming place, it is a joy to come to work every day.
Building Coordinator & Admin Assistant
I work behind the scenes providing office support for Children’s, Youth and Family Ministry, enabling our staff and volunteers to focus their time and energy ministering directly to kids and families. Outside of work, I cheer for my kids in their activities and serve as a Girl Scout leader. I enjoy Bible studies and gathering with others as we explore what a “faith-filled family life” looks like in today’s world. You haven’t experienced Colonial until you get involved beyond sitting in the pew. Join a class. Volunteer with children. Serve as an usher. Step out in faith. You’ll find we’re walking together.
Director Of Choral Worship
I conduct choirs, lead bands, and facilitate other artistic mediums at Colonial and beyond. I help shepherd this spectacular community to walk in the rhythm of Jesus. I’m learning how to be a husband (newlywed!), a homeowner, and I aspire to become a sommelier. I’m often running around one of the Minneapolis lakes which helps me justify my enjoyment of fine food and drink from the great local eateries (including my kitchen where Julie and I work to hone our culinary skills!).
EducationMark received his Bachelor’s degree from Saint Olaf College and his M.S.M. in choral conducting from Luther Seminary under the mentorship of Dr. Anton Armstrong and Dr. Paul Westermeyer. Before attending Luther Seminary, Stover served as Director of Worship and Arts at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, California, while teaching choral music at Campolindo High School, and serving as worship leader for the Open Door Community. Mark has designed contemporary a cappella shows for high school and college ensembles and regularly works as a clinician, workshop host and guest conductor for ensembles in both the church and academy ranging from classically trained choirs to contemporary a cappella men’s, women’s, and mixed ensembles. He currently serves as the ACDA-MN R&S Chair for Music and Worship. Mark Stover is the Teen Choir conductor for the St. Olaf College Choir Connection and will also serve on the planning committee and lead worship for the St. Olaf Conference on Worship, Theology, and the Arts in July, 2012.
I am very excited to be working as Assistant to Mark Stover, Minister of Worship, Music & Arts, here at Colonial Church. I have been a member of Colonial since the early 1990’s and have been a member of the Colonial Chorale since 1999. My job duties include working with the Colonial Chorale, Chamber Singers and other special events pertaining to Worship, Music & Arts.
My husband and I have one son who is currently serving in the United States Army. My hobbies include travel and photography. I also play clarinet in a community band in the Twin Cities area.
I support the Associate Minister as well as the Pastoral Care Ministry Team and Adult Education efforts. I love this work, as it allows me to connect with people here at Colonial Church as we all seek to live God’s grace while we minister to our own family and learn what it means to be a neighbor in our world. In addition to my work here, I also enjoy part-time work with Tastefully Simple as well as dabbling in video legacy production. I have two daughters, Tova and Leah (plus two great sons-in-law); and two granddaughters, Kayden and Lillian, who keep me busy and happy.
Farm raised and number 6 of 7 children I learned early on about hard work and service to community. I’ve been a attending Colonial for 20+ years and an active member since I went on a mission trip 12 years ago to the Dominican Republic. My daughter Isabel was baptized here and is now in Confirmation. In my spare time I operate an organic lawn and landscape company called Organic Bob.
