O Favored Daughters, O Favored Sons
Acts 13:21-22 Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years. When he had removed him, he made David their king. In his testimony about him he said, "I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after my heart, who will carry out all my wishes."
Occasionally I imagine God looking over His Creation seeking people who are eager to do His will on earth.
When we seek Him in return;
When we let Him know that we are "steerable";
When we wear His bridle and can feel His reins;
Then we become one of His favored ones.
Like David — a man after His own heart.
Like the Apostle John — the one whom Jesus loved.
Like Mary, Mother of God.
As we spend more time with Him doing His will,
He spends more time with us.
He gives us more to do.
We become favored.
We are after His heart.
And He is after ours.
We become more of what He created us to be
And He gets more of what He needs done
Through us
On this side of Eternity.
As a favored daughter,
As a favored son,
We experience the thrill of participating more fully
In the redemption of Creation.
And if that isn't the purest definition of Joy, then I don't know what is.
And we won't expect Him to tell us where we are going today.
And we won't worry about where we are going tomorrow.
For tomorrow He will turn us around
And show us where we have been
Together.
Blessings on all you do for Him this week.
With His Love
Jim
