Registration now open! Click here to register!
Dates
Sunday August 12 – Friday August 17, 2012
Cost
The total cost is $390, which includes food, lodging, transportation, programming costs, and a t-shirt. Fifty percent of the cost is due at registration, $75 of which is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due by July 15. You will receive payment reminder emails that include the payment link to make things easier for you.
Cancelations and Refunds
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to Kristin Johnson, Administrative Assistant. Refunds will be given, minus the $75 non-refundable deposit, until July 15. No refunds will be given after July 15.
Scholarships
Colonial Church is committed to helping every child attend camp. If you have a scholarship need, please contact Julie Stover, Children’s Ministry Director, for a confidential conversation.
Can I Bring a Friend?
Children are encouraged to invite their friends to camp. Requests for friends to room together will be guaranteed when both friends mark one another as their only choice for cabin mates. There is no guarantee that clusters of friends will be placed together in cabins.
Waiting List
While we would love to take everyone to camp, we also want to provide a safe, meaningful camp experience. In the end, cabin space, based on gender and grade, determines how many campers from the waiting list we can take. We give preference to Colonial kids, their friends, and past Camp Pyro campers. Many kids on the waiting list come to Camp…so, sign up!
Medical Information
We collect medical/emergency information for all campers and counselors. Among the information needed are emergency contact names & numbers, insurance information, allergies/special needs and a complete list of medications taken by your camper. This information will be shared with the camp nurse. The more we know about your camper, the better we can equip our staff to meet their needs!
Preparing to Leave
Departure and Return
We leave for Camp Pyro on Sunday August 12, 2012. Check in at Colonial Church at 12:30pm. Drop off luggage at the bus trailers in the East parking lot. There will be counselors to direct you. Our departure time will be 1:30pm sharp! We return home on Friday August 17. We’ll leave Covenant Pines Camp at 12:00 noon. The ride is approximately three hours. It is difficult to determine the exact time, but our plan is to arrive at Colonial Church at 3:00pm (give or take 30 minutes!).
Camp begins the minute they get on the bus! Getting to camp independently really does detract from the full camp experience. Alternative transportation requests must be made via email to Kristin Johnson, Administrative Assistant, preferably by August 1. A confirmation of this request and directions to camp will be sent at that time. For the safety of the camper, please include the name of the driver who will be picking up your camper at Camp.
- If you are driving your camper directly to Covenant Pines, plan to arrive by 4:30pm on Sunday. For the safety of your camper, you must wait for the Camp Pyro bus to arrive and check in with Camp Pyro Staff before leaving camp.
- If you are picking up your camper directly at Covenant Pines, plan to arrive by 10am on Friday. For the safety of your camper, check out with Camp Pyro Staff before leaving camp with your camper.
Medications
The day we leave for camp, the camp nurse will be available to receive medications and instructions. All medications (including over-the-counter) must be turned into the nurse. Please place medications in a labeled plastic bag and write out detailed instructions. The nurse will distribute them each morning or evening. All medications will be returned to campers as they board the bus home.
Camp Pyro Mail
No missed letters! We will take your mail and deliver it at camp. Just bring your letters/package on Sunday when you drop off your child for camp. Clearly label each piece with your child’s name and the day you would like it delivered. Money collected will be donated to the Children’s Ministry Scholarship Fund.
Unlimited letters = $5 per camper.
Shoebox-sized package = $5 per package.
When filling a care package, please consider packing healthy snacks. Remember, candy is also available at the snack shop! Be mindful of the quantity you’re sending, too. A cabin full of kids with “enough to share” is often a cabin not interested in dinner!
Covenant Pines mailing address
One of the most memorable parts of camp for children is receiving letters from their parents, friends, and relatives. If you mail a letter on Saturday, it will arrive at the camp on Monday or Tuesday. No mail delivery on Friday. Letters should be addressed to:
