Interns at Colonial
David Grimes Worship, Music & Arts

Colonial Church has already become a familiar place for me for the past few years, as I have been working part time for Charlie McGlynn in Media. This year I am a senior at Northwestern College, finishing a Bachelors of Arts in Music with a classical guitar emphasis. I work in the audio visual department at school, am a student leader of campus-wide contemporary worship services, and am serving under Timothy Sawyer as the student president of the Northwestern College Choir. I am also the drummer and electronic programmer for a young local pop/rock band out of my home town, Maple Grove.
I have admired and enjoyed being around Mark Stover as a media engineer, mentee, and friend for the past few years. It is an honor and blessing to have the opportunity to invest and be invested in by the body of Christ at Colonial Church. I am humbled to take part in praise of God through contemporary and choral worship in accordance with Colonial’s vision and mission.
Andrew Zhao Youth Ministry
I’ve been a bit of a nomad in my life (spending time in Oregon, New York, China, Chicago, and Maryland), but I have been happy to be a part of the easy-going, hospitable, and fun community that the Twin Cities has offered the past two years. I have a passion for youth ministry and am a second year seminary student at Bethel Seminary working on my Master of Divinity. I’m a huge Chicago sports fan and if/when the Cubs finally win the World Series, I will cry like a baby and laugh like a hyena for a whole week.
It’s been great shadowing Brian Jones and Nicole Lindsay and seeing all the behind-the-scene planning and work that go into creating a healthy, loving, and hope-filled youth ministry. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the time already spent hanging with the kids, teaching, playing, worshiping, and getting to know the guys in my small group. Seeing kids grow in their relationship with Christ, learn more about themselves, and feel loved and invested in are joys that are simply indescribable to me.
