Foundation

What is the Foundation?

The Colonial Church Foundation was established at a special church meeting in 1971. Its purpose was, and is, to support the work and ministry of Colonial Church. The Foundation grants have underwritten guest lectureships and adult education seminars. They have provided short-term operating support for Christian ministries in the community and start-up monies for a variety of church activities promoting fellowship within our church family. Over the years funds have been given to help pay for playground equipment, computer and audio-visual systems, music and arts and much more. All gifts become part of a permanent endowment fund, unless otherwise designated. Since only investment earnings are spent, not the principal sums, gifts become a means of supporting the work and ministry of Colonial Church – forever.

What Type of Gifts Does the Foundation Accept?

Giving a gift to the Foundation provides an opportunity to celebrate a meaningful life event, a special time in one’s faith journey, or the memory of a beloved person to honor a relationship with the church at the end of one’s life.
Gifts to the Foundation may be designated for ministry areas that hold special interest for donors. This type of giving expresses what donors care about most. It tells futures generations about their passion and soul. Designated gifts may be made within four areas of the Foundation’s endowment:

Opportunity Fund

This is a ‘general’ fund that supports Colonial ministries, projects and activities that are not currently supported by the church’s operating budget. It is the most flexible of the fund areas.

Village Fund

This fund supports the betterment of the Colonial Church property, including the building and gardens. The Kinney Fund is a sub-fund specifically dedicated to the care and maintenance of Colonial’s gardens.

Pilgrim Fund

This fund supports the enrichment of the lives at Colonial Church and the surrounding community through music, adult worship and children and youth ministry programs. The Lindemann (adult education) and Guelich (Guelich Lectures) Funds are special designations within the Pilgrim Fund.

Outreach Fund

This fund supports Colonial Church’s mission to the world by funding the work and ministry of the Outreach ministry efforts at Colonial Church.

How to Give to the Foundation

Contacting a Foundation member is a recommended first step when considering a gift to the Foundation. Memorial gifts can be made using he same methods one uses for contributing annual stewardship gifts – online payment, check or transfer of appreciated securities.
