Gary Klingsporn began his ministry at Colonial Church in 1988. A native of the Missouri Ozarks, he is a graduate of St. Paul's Lutheran College and holds the Ph.D. in Religion from Baylor University, Waco, Texas. Before coming to Colonial he taught in the Baylor Religion Department and served in Baptist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches. A Baylor Phi Beta Kappa, Gary focused on the Gospel of Luke in his doctoral studies and continues his primary interests in the Old Testament and the Synoptic Gospels. He has had experience in the field of publishing and has worked as an editor and writer.

As Minister of Spiritual Formation, Gary's primary responsibility is Adult Education at Colonial. He oversees weekday groups and classes in adult learning, Sunday morning adult communities, and special events and seminars. A current focus of his ministry includes study in the field of Christian Spirituality and development of the Center for Spiritual Formation at Colonial.

Gary loves listening to classical music, spending time with his family, and playing with his two schnauzers, Reinhold and Izzy. He hates tomatoes, but is glad most other people like them. He is married and has two children. Having lived 14 years in Texas, he's glad to be out of the heat and humidity of seven-month-long Texas summers! He misses Texas bluebonnets and Tex-Mex food, but he loves Minnesota spring, summer and autumn (and doesn't mind the snow). Most of all, he loves Minnesota people!
