At Colonial I preach, teach, lead, pray and talk to a lot of people about just about everything. Outside of Colonial I hang out with my family and friends, ride my bike, paddle my kayak, swing my squash racket, read books, watch sports, cook food (and eat it). Colonial is a Fabulous church with wonderful and faithful people…technically not a colonial church. Being most recently from New England I know this.

The best part of my job at Colonial is seeing kids experience those “aha” moments with God. It is truly a privilege to be partnering with parents in forming little souls to know and love Jesus. When not at Colonial, I love spending time connecting with my husband, adult children and friends over ethnic food or a “cuppa” (read robust black tea, not fruity herbal concoctions, please!). Colonial is an amazingly generous collection of people who love Jesus and are not afraid to show it with how they serve and give to others.

I love God and I love teenagers. I try to find others that do those things and plug them into youth ministry. I try to help Colonial be a place that teenagers love and a place where they grow to love God more. When I’m not working I’m wrestling with my 2 amazing daughters, working on my house, or trying to find time to engage in one of my nerdy hobbies. When Colonial is deserted and all lights are out, it is the perfect place to play Nerf wars.

My job is to welcome people into the life of Colonial Church and to create opportunities for people to connect with one another. I love my job because there is always something new to create, experience, and learn as I live into life and ministry. I love to spend time with my husband Brian and our two girls. I love to be outside at the park with the kids, gardening around our house, Twins games, coffee shops, traveling (although that doesn’t happen much anymore with two little ones) and spending time with family and friends.

I am the point person for general congregational pastoral care needs and I oversee the care of missionaries and the involvement of our membership in meeting needs around the world. When not at work I follow Minnesota sports of all kinds, travel as often as possible, and receive many hugs and kisses from my 115 pound Golden Retriever, Koda. We at Colonial have a great desire for people to experience and follow Jesus, plus we have 4 big fire places and a really cool bridge.

I do something different every day as I manage resources behind the scenes that support our ministries. I act as banker, employer, and administrator, with the congregation’s needs at heart. I like to be outdoors walking with my husband, one of our three kids, our golden retriever, or a close friend. I love the line from our covenant, we “walk together in all God’s ways”… When you drive in to Colonial, you see God’s beauty; when you come inside, you meet God’s people, and when you worship here, you experience God.
Arthur Rouner Senior Minister Emeritus

Rev. Dr. Arthur Rouner came came to Colonial Church in September 1962 and served faithfully as Senior Minister providing visionary leadership for thirty two years. He became Senior Minister Emeritus following his retirement in 1994. He continues a vital ministry of reconciliation in many violence-ravaged countries in Africa with his wife, Molly. He is the author of more than a dozen books ranging from Congregational Church history to marriage, prayer, healing, Christian calling and ministry.

I conduct choirs, lead bands, and facilitate other artistic mediums at Colonial and beyond. I help shepherd this spectacular community to walk in the rhythm of Jesus. I’m learning how to be a husband (newlywed!), a homeowner, and I aspire to become a sommelier. I’m often running around one of the Minneapolis lakes which helps me justify my enjoyment of fine food and drink from the great local eateries (including my kitchen where Julie and I work to hone our culinary skills!).

I have been organist/keyboardist at Colonial Church since 1968. I earned my bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota in Music Theory/Composition, studying with Dominick Argento and Paul Fetler. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf as much as possible and I try to get down to Arizona for cold Minnesota winter months.

I am responsible for processing contributions, accounts payable and payroll. There is something new that happens everyday, and I love the challenge. When not at work I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Shopping is my favorite, but we do a variety of other fun stuff. Colonial is very welcoming place, it is a joy to come to work every day.

I am responsible for formatting the bulletin for the Sunday service, coordinating holiday worship services and providing overall support for WMA. In addition to my job here at Colonial, I also work out of my home as a seamstress. In my free time I enjoy reading, running, swimming and taking long walks with our two dogs. I am also a wife and busy mother of three children: Madison, Corbin and Lathan. Colonial is a warm and inviting place to work- the volunteers and staff make coming to work a joy!

I work behind the scenes providing “office support” for Children’s Ministry, enabling our staff and volunteers to focus their time and energy ministering to our children and families. Outside of church, I cheer for my kids in their activities, serve as a Girl Scout leader, and volunteer in my kid’s schools. You haven’t experienced Colonial until you get involved beyond sitting in the pew. Join a class. Volunteer with children. Serve as an usher. Step out in faith. You’ll find we’re walking together.

I get to build relationships with awesome junior highers doing anything and everything together in order to walk alongside them as they begin to invite God into their lives. I recently graduated from Bethel University with a degree in social work. I love to read and be with people-exploring the outdoors, planning adventures, trying new things, watching movies (mostly Transformers) and having fun. At Colonial it’s 99 steps to the top of the bell tower and never mess with the geese that hang out on the lawn. They always win.

I support the Pastoral Care Ministry Team, Outreach Ministry and Adult Education efforts. I love this work, as it allows me to connect with people here at Colonial Church as we all seek to live God’s grace while we minister to our own family, learn and reach out to the world. In addition to my work here, I also enjoy part-time work with Tastefully Simple as well as dabbling in video legacy scrapbooking. I have two daughters, Tova and Leah; and two granddaughters, Kayden and Lillian, who keep me busy and happy.

At Colonial I handle the day to day technical needs of the church. IT needs, web, audio, video, and print. Sundays are the biggest day of the week for me. When not at Colonial I can be found with my friends or at the cabin waterskiing. I love to travel. Currently I am trying to improve my photography skills. One thing to know about Colonial is that diet coke is a hot commodity.

I get the privilege of working with the very youngest of our community in the Nursery and Stepping Stones wing. I also get to work with amazing volunteers of all ages – so my job rocks! When I’m not at Colonial I’m driving my children around town to gymnastics, hockey, football, and of course, Colonial for Children’s and Youth programming. Colonial is a place with so much to offer to everyone – there’s no way you can fit it all in on a Sunday!!

I am privileged to help children grow the way of Jesus. I work with elementary kids and little ones too. It is great to hang out with the children at Colonial! I spend time equipping our spectacular volunteer leaders to shepherd children in our ministry. I enjoy my wonderful husband, exploring the Twin Cities, sharing time with friends, drinking good coffee, cooking and eating anything I deem “yummy.” I have found Colonial to be a place where people can come as they are to encounter the God who is God of all.

I do a variety of work at Colonial with my main roles being assisting the Senior Minister and scheduling the weekly programs and special events that happen in the building. I also manage our membership & visitor database, help with Communications and provide support for our staff and lay leaders. I am thankful and blessed to work with a Christian staff! I love working as a team to serve a congregation of so many servant-hearted people as well as opening our doors to other Christian and non-religious-affiliated groups alike.
