Did you see what I did there with the double meaning in the title? Our seniors have been a blessing this year AND we wanted to send them off with blessing from our leaders. Below is the prayer our leaders prayed for our seniors on evening of their last youth group with us. We offered it as a “charge.”
Seniors, you are the leaders in our community,
and we mourn seeing you leave us,
while we celebrate the strong men and women that God has made you to be.In the presence of the Eternal God
we bless you now to begin a new season in your lives.Seek God throughout your whole life.
In his will you will find your purpose,
in his path you will find joy,
and in his presence there is peace.Do not be troubled about the past,
nor anxious about the future,
but challenge yourself to find joy in the moment you now live.We call on God to strengthen your faith and ease your fears
so that you may courageously follow his Spirit
and live fully, in each day, the life you have been given.When doubt and confusion about their purpose surrounds you,
God will light your way and give you peace.Always remember how wonderfully gifted you are,
and may you use those gifts to become a source of inspiration and blessing for the world.May you always know that you are loved
and have the support, caring, and affection of this community.
As you go out, carry us forward in your hearts as we hold you safely here in ours.In each new and adventuresome season of life, and when each day is ended,
take delight in knowing that the good work God began in you
shall come to completion in you by God’s grace.We ask this through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
